The study focus

The final lesson in Serve by the Spirit examines the distance between protecting an impression and serving with honest readiness. David could receive Saul’s armor in a moment; he could not receive practiced experience with it. Learn to assess what you can carry, receive instruction and correction, and take one responsible step with what God has entrusted to you. Privacy is not pretense, and needing help is not failure.

Truth to carry
I do not have to pretend I am finished. I will allow God to form me into the person He intends to use.

Formation movements

What this study confronts

  1. 01

Examine the impression you are protecting.

  2. 02

Distinguish received equipment from developed readiness.

  3. 03

Let honest assessment change the next decision.

  4. 04

    Receive instruction and correction.

  5. 05

Learn faithful practices rather than merely copying delivery.

  6. 06

    Examine conduct under Scripture.

  7. 07

Choose one responsible action and bring it to Jesus.

Self-examination

What truth has become difficult to say because of who people expect me to be?

Within seven days, take one appropriate step: request instruction, clarify a responsibility, accept correction, begin supervised practice, or correct a misleading impression with the appropriate person. Keep private matters private and seek safe counsel where needed.
